M. Isabel Ribeiro is Full Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the School of Engineering of the Technical University of Lisbon. She was Director of the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR) from Jan.06 to Jul.07. At ISR she carries out R&D work in the area of autonomous robotics being responsible for the Mobile Robotics Laboratory (LRM). Her research interests include indoor and outdoor land mobile robot navigation, cooperative robotics and cooperative navigation, maping and world model and representation.

She leads or is involved in a number of national and international R&D projects in the areas of Mobile Robotics Navigation, Environment Reconstruction and Mobile Robotics Cooperation. She is the Chair of the IFAC Technical Committee on Intelligent Autonomous Vehicles and a member of the Education key area of EURON.
