About Me

I am a PhD student of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, and at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA. My background is in Systems, Decision and Control (major) and in Communications.

Lately I have been working in the optimization field, namely, designing distributed algorithms to solve problems that appear in the newly area of compressed or compressive sensing. The goal of this research is to implement fast algorithms in multi-processor environments, both for the shared and the unshared memory cases.

My other scientific interests include optimization theory, computer vision, control and dynamic systems.
