PrintART This is a project that gathers researchers from the Instituto Superior Técnico, the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, and the Museu Nacional do Azulejo with the purpose of designing a software to aid the study and the identification of Portuguese tile art. The project aims to develop a tool that enables the cross-reference of information, matching prints and tiles, so as to identify the original sources of any given panel, as well as matching the tile panels and the figures portrayed in them.
Structure from Motion with Priors
Partially supported by Pourtugese FCT grant MODI-PTDC/EEA ACR/72201/2006.
SfM with Priors The aim of this project is to define a factorisation framework which can include a priori information in Structure from Motion problems. Such priors can help to obtain usable 3D reconstruction when the data extracted from the 2D images is ambiguous or degenerate as it happens often in Non-rigid Structure from Motion. The proposed method compute a closed-form affine fit which mixes the information from the data and the prior. Here you can find a description of the approach for a 3D reconstruction task.
Motion Manifolds for image matching, registration and 3D reconstruction
In collaboration with Joao Xavier, Marko Stosic (ISR/IST), Marija Dodig (CELC),
Marco Paladini and Lourdes Agapito (DCS/QMUL).
Partially supported by Pourtugese FCT grants SIPM-PTDC/EEA-ACR/73749/2006
and MODI-PTDC/EEA-ACR/72201/2006.
Reconstruction with motion manifold The aim of this project is to study the intrinsic motion properties of an object (rigid, deformable and articulated) seen by an uncalibrated video camera.
The image motion of a 3D rigid or non-rigid body is constrained by a specific motion manifold. The aim of this project is not to only discover such manifolds but also to provide optimal algorithms which solves for image matching, registration and 3D reconstruction problems.
