I am researcher at the control, electronics and communications department of the Instituto Nacional de Electricidad y Energías Limpias (INEEL) in Mexico. From 2014 to 2017 I was visiting scholar at the Institute of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (INER) in Quito, Ecuador.  In 2014 I finished the Preeolica project, which aim was to predict the power generation in a wind farm and to optimize energy transactions using artificial intelligence techniques. From 2009 to 2011, I was involved as partner in the DYNAMO project with other 10 institutions from Mexico and Europe in which the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) collaborated in the development of POMDP-based applications. In 2009, I was enrolled as posdoctoral research fellow with Matthijs Spaan in the DecPUCS project at the Intelligent Systems Lab of the Institute for Systems and Robotics of the IST in Lisbon, Portugal.

I have been recognized as National Researcher (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores) by the Mexican Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).

I studied a Ph.D. at the ITESM Campus Cuernavaca under the supervision of Professors Enrique Sucar and Eduardo Morales. Part of my doctoral programme was performed at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver BC, where I was co-supervised by Professors David Poole and Martin Puterman. My research work lies at Decision-Theoretical Planning and its applications in robotics and power generation. I am especially interested in how intelligent agents percept and act in an uncertain world, and how they learn the dynamics of a system through its experience on it.

I received a B.Sc. in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Thermofluids from the Universidad Veracruzana in 1989. In 1999 I got a Master degree with honors in Artificial Intelligence at LANIA-UV (Laboratorio Nacional de Informatica Avanzada-Mexico) where I was co-supervised by Professors José Negrete Martínez (Universidad Veracruzana), and Ronald Frank Voguel (University of Iowa).
